Our Founder, Jewell Folta

Mission

Jewell grew up in an impoverished neighborhood of Middletown. She left school in the 10th grade. Years later, as a single mother of two boys, supporting her family as a school bus driver, she went back and achieved a GED. She then continued onto college completing her Bachelors in Biology and Masters in Curriculum Technology from Miami University. Jewell has dedicated her life to helping the under privileged both as a high school Biology teacher and volunteer. She lost her father prematurely to prostate cancer and is a pituitary brain tumor survivor herself. Jewell totally relates to those who are struggling day by day, thus the name; Needs-n-Dreams

Needs-n-Dreams is dedicated to providing help to children in three primary need areas: meeting the basic and educational needs of impoverished kids, granting wishes to kids with terminal illnesses, and easing the transitional burdens of critically ill children faced with extended hospital stays. We accomplish these through, referral sources, donors, sponsors, and help from local communities.

Managing our Funds

Needs-n-Dreams is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation. We extend help and support to children and families in the Greater Cincinnati, Dayton and Northern Kentucky areas who would otherwise be living with insurmountable burdens. We give the kids a sense of pride and joy and something to look forward to.

We believe that the smallest need can be the biggest dream... We are based in Mason, Ohio.

Because we are able to keep administrative costs to a bare minimum by relying on our volunteers and community for their donated time and services, our efforts can be focused on helping our kids rather than organizational bureaucracy.
